Something Beautiful in Every Day

winter
it's not that winter wasn't beautiful...i was just to busy too post. but there was plenty of beauty to be found...everywhere! the smell and cuddley-ness of a new puppy, joy of christmas with the whole family together, an AMAZING red full lunar eclipse on the winter solstice as the clouds parted and the wind swept through town, full moon over a snow-covered landscape on a cross-country ski, sparkly trees and snow peaked mountains during a late night ski into a cozy cabin, the beauty paints piled on canvas invoking peace and anger and raw emotions at the MOMA, a cozy italian dinner of gnocchi pillows and candlelight with longtime friends in brooklyn, two friends' glowing faces as they wed under stained glass panels, music that makes the feet and heart dance, smiles of strangers that feel like old-kindred-souls, snowflakes falling under street lights like goose feathers, whipping over vast expanses of sandstone with the sun dazzling on a winter afternoon, snowboarding with a wave of powder breaking over my knees, a golden eagle swooping down out of the fog within 5 feet of myself, tea with friends, a shared meal of fresh kitchari and homemade chai and a date and pecans, watching the joy of baby brother turning thirteen and winning a science fair and becoming a wonderful person, wind whipping hair on a sunset hike, sharing apres ski at the ritz in giant armchairs near a huge fireplace with a dear friend, delicate lines of snow outlining the book cliffs as storm clouds lifted, bids singing in the early morning, and waking up each morning for an entire week feeling nothing but joy. it's been beautiful. it IS beautiful! and i am so lucky to be living here now!

crashing
as i rode my bike home from work, the clouds were billowing on top of each other, the lightening started, thunder booming, and right as i got into my little apartment, i opened the curtains and watched the rain spalsh the window

mountain time
two days spent in the mountains...watching the last of the golden aspens flutter in the breeze and finally start their descent to the ground. seeing craggy peaks reflected in clear glassy ponds, cattails nodding along the edges. and hiking above treeline amongst the peaks and dried herbs and leaves from the summer's bounty.

a tie
it's a tie today between seeing jupiter with 4 of its moons, and elk coming off the plateau as the sun set in the canyon...

pizza?!
can pizza be beautiful? yes! when it's homemade crust, fresh mozzarella cheese, yellow and red streaked heirloom tomatos, golden garden peppers and fresh basil!

high mountains
the weekend high in the mountains...spent in a cozy cabin, overlooking mount massive, the golden aspen leaves lining all the paths, hiking about treeline with the browns and rusts and orange tundra, mountains dusted in early fall snow.
